Vertigo Release Defines a New Generation of Resistance Through Art
November 21 marks the official release of Vertigo, Chris Purifoy’s (aka Analog de Leon) maiden book, published by Andrews McMeel. Vertigo will be available in every major bookstore.

Vertigo defines a generation of resistance in an age where the truth has gone the way of alternative facts, beauty is defined by Photoshop, and prejudice and injustice have become the cacophony of our generation. At a time when we have never needed Bob Dylan & Maya Angelou voices more—voices that stand up for the hopeless, the helpless, and the voiceless—Vertigo is as a call to action for artists to commit their art to purpose.

Inspired by a Syrian monk who lived atop a pillar in protest to the injustice of the day, Chris Purifoy weaves together his own experiences about standing in resistance to a great tide of darkness and indifference. Vertigo speaks to the plight of every man and woman who has ever loved, lost, or yearned for freedom.
Most of all, Vertigo is a book about letting go.

Vertigo speaks with a modern and accessible voice, by connecting many stand-alone micro-poems into one rich story about a star-crossed love and the turbulence of letting go, but Vertigo is much more than a poetry book.

In the author’s words: “This brave new age is trying to convince us that we are digital, that our humanity is not of the earth but of the air, of the Wi-Fi, the 4Gs, and the AIs. If you take anything from Vertigo, I hope it is a deeper presence with yourself and the people in your life.”

The poetry and illustrations seen throughout Vertigo’s pages convey a sense of wholeness that seeks to bring out deep inner truths in a relatable package—allowing adult readers of all ages and intellect to seek inward and empower themselves with self-love.

“Reach. Never stop reaching.
When you think
there is nothing left to grab,
there is always more.
The universe is infinite
and still unfolding,
and even as you see creation undone,
it is all the while
birthing something new,
something further,
something reachable.”
